This notice covers the use of this website, including its information pages and available documents. The website does not allow account creation, contain a contact form, or provide online appointments or payments.

Any handling of patient data outside the website follows separate procedures and is subject to professional secrecy and the obligations applicable to medical practice.

3. Data processed and purposes

Technical access data

When the website is visited, the hosting provider may process technical data such as IP address, date and time, requested page or file, referring website, browser type, operating system, and information useful for security and service operation. This data is processed to deliver content, prevent abuse, protect the website and diagnose technical problems.

Email communications

The email link opens the user’s email program. The message is not sent through this website and does not pass through the web server. Data contained in the email is processed to answer the request and, where necessary, manage the professional relationship and comply with legal obligations.

Standard email may not be suitable for detailed or urgent health information. In a medical emergency, contact the emergency services; in Switzerland the number is 144.

Retention

Technical data is retained for the period provided by the hosting provider’s configuration and rules, to the extent necessary for security, diagnosis and service management. Communications are retained for as long as needed to respond and for any periods required by professional or legal obligations.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

This website currently uses no analytics, advertising, profiling or social media cookies and embeds no third-party content that tracks browsing.

When the cookie and privacy notice is closed, the browser stores only the technical preference foglia_cookie_notice_v1 in its local storage. The preference contains the dismissal date, remains for up to 180 days and serves only to avoid showing the notice on every visit. It can be removed by clearing the site data in the browser.

If non-essential tools are introduced in the future, this notice and the banner will be updated before they are enabled and, where required, those tools will remain disabled until the user makes a choice.

5. Providers, recipients and international transfers

The website is hosted by Railway Corporation, 548 Market St PMB 68956, San Francisco, California 94104, United States. Railway acts as a technical provider and may engage subprocessors. Technical data may therefore be processed in the United States or other countries. Railway states that transfers from Switzerland are governed through the mechanisms and safeguards described in its Data Processing Addendum.

Links to Google Maps, Amazon and external editorial websites are ordinary links. No data is sent to those services until the user chooses to open one; from then on, the external website’s privacy notice applies.

6. Security

Technical and organizational measures proportionate to the type of website are used, including encrypted HTTPS connections, limited server functionality and browser security headers. No electronic transmission or storage can, however, be guaranteed absolutely secure.

7. Rights of individuals

Within the limits of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, individuals may request information about their data, its correction, release, deletion or restriction of processing, and may object to processing. Requests may be sent to the email address above; verification of the requester’s identity may be necessary.

8. Changes

This notice is reviewed when the website’s functions, providers or data-processing practices change. The date shown at the beginning indicates the most recent substantive revision.
